Can I tithe through the website using
PayPal?
You can pay your monthly/weekly/annual tithe, if you wish, by clicking on
the "tithe button", and giving some information in a totally secure
environment. You can just make a donation online to the church. You may
debit your bank account here, or use a credit card. And, the PayPal
bank will even give you $5.00 for signing up! What could be more
convenient! Be sure to put
unitedchurch@fltg.net
as the email address that recommended you when you sign up, and UCP will
receive $5.00 every time, too.
Data Security and Encryption
The security of your information, transactions, and money is the core of
our business and our top priority at PayPal. PayPal
automatically encrypts your confidential information in transit from your
computer to ours using the Secure Sockets Layer protocol (SSL) with an
encryption key length of 128-bits (the highest level commercially
available). Before you even register or log in to our site, our server
checks that you're using an approved browser - one that uses SSL 3.0 or
higher.
Once your information reaches us, it resides on a server that is heavily
guarded both physically and electronically. Our servers sit behind an
electronic firewall and are not directly connected to the Internet, so your
private information is available only to authorized computers.
Security Tips
We at PayPal work hard to protect our customers, and have
many security measures to help ensure your protection.
There are also steps that you, our customer, can take to help protect
yourself. We'd like to provide you with this information so that we can work
together to protect against fraud.
Passwords:
Never, ever share your PayPal
password with anyone. PayPal representatives will NEVER ask
you for your Password. If you believe someone else has gotten access to your
password, please change it immediately and Contact Us.
Select a password that is easy to remember, but hard to figure out. One good
way to create a secure password is to choose a phrase of two or three words
and add a 2 or 3 digit number to the end of the phrase. Avoid choosing
obvious words or dates such as a nickname or birthdate. It is always a good
idea to mix numbers with letters when choosing your password.
Don't use the same password you use for AOL, eBay, MSN, Yahoo, or other
online services. Using the same password for multiple websites makes it easy
for thieves to access your personal information.
Secure Websites:
Whenever entering sensitive personal information (such as checking
account or credit card numbers) onto any website, make sure that the website
encrypts the information you send to, and receive from, the site. When you
log into your PayPal account, you will always be on a secure
website. You can check if the website you are using has this type of
security in two ways:
Check to make sure the URL begins with "https" rather than "http"
Look for a lock icon on the bottom left or bottom right of your browser,
(shows 128 bit security).
Email Security
If you receive an email and are unsure
whether it is from PayPal, come directly to the PayPal
site at https://www.paypal.com
Don't click on any link in an email which seems suspicious to you. These
security measures will help ensure that you are logging into PayPal.
The only site you should ever type your username and password into is at
https://www.paypal.com.
PayPal will never send an email to ask you to put in your user
name and password.
Will I get a receipt?
Yes, you will have a
receipt emailed immediately to you with all the details of your transaction,
and you can print it for your records.
Is there a monthly fee?
No, it's free to sign up for the
PayPal Network, it's free to send money. There is a small fee for
UCP to receive money, but the convenience and efficiency of this system make
up for that.
Who can use PayPal?
Anyone who has an email address, and a
credit card can use PayPal, and you can even become a
"Verified" member and debit your bank account directly. You will receive a
$5.00 bonus as soon as you sign up. And when you sign up, be sure to put the
referral email as:unitedchurch@fltg.net
so that the UCP gets the credit, too. We're all working together.
