Spiritual Support, Power, & Love

Join the religious community here at United Church of Phelps. With our church ministry we'll help you build purpose, power, and praise. We have a very strong church ministry with lots of support.  Join our ministry program, to learn to embrace your God and fellow Christians.

 

 

Christian Education:

Oversees all the educational opportunities for the Church. We coordinate Vacation Bible School, Sunday School and other special study opportunities throughout the year. We give suggestions to the Youth Group Advisors and always seek to include others in growing in their faith through bible study and small group studies. Church Council:

Is the governing body of the Church making decisions on the ministry of the Church. If you would like more information contact Brian Hemminger at (315) 548-4952

Health and Service Team:

Is responsible for developing ministries to those within the church who are in need, those who are sick or bereaved, those who are friendless. A team of service includes: Phelps Community Food Cupboard, visitations of the sick and/or shut-ins, meals for families with a member in the hospital or bereaved, Christmas cookies to shut-ins, Meals-on-Wheels, host fellowship receptions for memorial services, and special remembrance (anniversaries). Media and Technology Ministry Team:

Oversees, utilizes, and maintains all technology and media equipment.  This team develops the vision for use of technologies to further the church's ministry and share the love of Christ in a culturally relevant way.  For more information contact Team Chairperson, Chris Crooks at (315) 548-9321.

 

 

Mission Team:

Is responsible for enabling the involvement of the congregation by supporting local and extended mission programs. On-going programs include: Pennies from Heaven for local missions, Red Bird Mission labels and coupons, Habitat for Humanity, Phelps Community Food Cupboard support, and Health Service kits. Other mission programs include: One Great Hour of Sharing, Tools of Hope & Blankets, Local Annual Mission Walk, and Sarah Woodard Mission work in Nicaragua. Music & Worship Team:

Meets monthly, assisting the Pastors and Choir Director in planning church services and special events, providing music for the church, and developing new worship opportunities such as drama. If you would like more information contact Karen Moracco at (315) 548-4548.

 

 

 

Nominating Team:

Is responsible for nominating individuals to serve on appropriate teams. If you would like more information contact Marsha Gibbs at (315) 548-5546.

 

 

 

 

Outreach Team:

 Is responsible for developing ways of sharing the Good News of Gospel in the community this includes calling on new people in town, new member recruitment, and creating a climate within the Church of care, concern, understand, and love. Personnel Team:

 Acts as a conduit for parish-to-pastor and pastor-to-parish communications. The team also reviews all paid staff positions including descriptions and annual performance reviews.

Trustees:

 Is in charge of the maintenance of buildings and grounds and overseeing investments. If you would like more information contact Jerry Clark at (585) 526-6694.
